Why I'm Doing This
I lament the passing away of classical poetry. True, it’s still revered and read today, but few people write it. Modern poetry is a style of its own, and it’s one I have difficulty appreciating.
My favorite poets are Byron, Tennyson, George Herbert, and Alfred Noyes, and it is from them that I have drawn much of my inspiration over the years. Their poetry is powerful and beautiful and breathtaking. They have encouraged me to reach for the stars when it comes to writing poetry.
I believe I have something to offer any one who feels the same way I do.
There is an ageless strength and beauty in classical poetry, and I want to remind the world of this fact. I want to reach out to those who wish that classical poetry were still written today.
I want to get to know people who think the simplest and best form of poetry is an ABAB rhyme scheme in iambic tetrameter.
I invite you to settle down here for a little while, scroll through my blog, see if anything else I’ve written interests you.

Have you read any Hopkins? Also, what is your favorite poem by Alfred Noyes? I haven't read much of his work and am wondering where to start. :) ~Miriam
