Salutations, friends and fellow readers of poetry! Because I set up my previous post in advance, it's been more than a month since I've sat down to address you all. During that month, I've been thinking.
"Rhyme and Rhythm" is not a very interesting name for this blog. I'm sure you've noticed. I've known ever since I first launched this blog last April. It's taken me a year and four months to come up with a better name.
From now on, this blog will be titled "Sprigs of Poesy."
This name came to me in one of those flashes of inspiration that poets get--I'm only half joking-- and I like it for multiple reasons.
The word "sprigs" evokes in my imagination a picture of a bunch of pretty little plants sprouting all over the place. This blog is essentially a collection of little peeks into the various aspects of classical poetry. The imagery there appeals to me.
The word "poesy" is an old-fashioned word for poetry, tying into this blog's specific focus on older, traditional styles of poetry.
Also, "poesy" sounds like "posy" and reinforces the imagery of flowers. That word play makes me happy.
So "Sprigs of Poesy" it is.

Love the new name (and the new blog design; I don't think I've looked at the homepage since you've changed the pictures?)!
